Labor Department finds 253 employees were denied overtime pay, and compensation for travel time.
The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division conducted an investigation into Phoenix-based Urgent Home Care Inc., which provides in-home care to older adults. They found that the company regularly withheld wages from their employees, routinely denied overtime pay, and did not compensate for time spent traveling between clients’ residences. As a result of this investigation, the Arizona District Court ordered the company to pay their 253 employees a total of $521,905 in back wages.
“The court’s order and the outcome of our investigation send the clear message that the U.S. Department of Labor will use its enforcement powers to recover workers’ hard-earned wages and hold those who deliberately engage in wage theft accountable,” said Wage and Hour Division Phoenix District Director Eric Murray.
